More technical things you may like to know:
This particular batch of Manuka Honey (batch B1541) was harvested from the Coromandel region of New Zealand in January 2011. The honey was tested for its non peroxide level by Hill Laboratories on 25th January 2013. The test results determined the level of 15 making the honey eligible to be sold as ‘UMF 15+’ as provided by the regulations of the UMF Honey Association of New Zealand. It was also tested for its HMF (5-hydroxymethylfurfural) level at the same time and this was registered at 13.3 mg/kg.
No sugar added: This batch was additionally tested for its C(4) sugar content to ensure that no adulteration had occurred during processing by adding low-grade sugars such as fructose corn sugar or cane sugar. A more commonly used and internationally accepted test for any C(4) sugar content in honey does not cater for the unique nature of Manuka Honey and can often give a false reading of purity.
